Upcoming with Dominic Barter — Pegadas & Dialogical System Design
A new round of online events is opening, including informal Q&A calls and public Taster Sessions exploring Dialogical System Design—the application of nonviolence at the level of social systems.
Two learning journeys are offered:
- Pegadas (4 months, online): a practical entry point to begin or deepen work in social systems change
- Percurso (18 months): for those actively building and sustaining such systems
“It is more than possible to make profound changes in how society operates. The next steps… are simple and do-able.”
Open Invitations (no registration required):
- Q&A Calls — drop in, ask anything
- Taster Sessions — experience the beginning of the Pegadas journey
Sessions are open, global, and grounded in financial co-responsibility—supporting access while sustaining the work.
The Invite by Dominic
This is from an email forwarded to my practice group…
This is an update on upcoming online events with Dominic Barter, co-founder of Restorative Circles including a new round of Question and Answer calls on what we do, open drop-in Taster Sessions on Dialogical System Design and the longer online Pegadas learning journey starting later this month.
Please consider sharing this information with anyone you think would benefit from it. Thank you.
Learning journeys
As you might have heard in one of our recent events, or read in a previous email, recently I initiated two learning journeys investigating the craft of nonviolence applied to social systems. You can think of this as Nonviolent Communication on the collective level. I call it Dialogical System Design. They are known by two terms we’ve used in Brazil for many years: ‘Percurso’, which is an 18 month journey for those building such social systems, and ‘Pegadas’, which lasts 4 months, happens online, and provides a ground for those seeking to begin or strengthen further practical work.
You’ll find more detailed information about both journeys here: https://percurso.typeform.com/PercursoDSD1st
Pegadas – Online learning journey
The first arc of Pegadas completed last month and I’m really happy with the feedback. There were useful critiques, which will help me make changes next time.Meanwhile there were reflections which particularly struck me, like this line:
“I so appreciated this experience to continue encouraging and inspiring me that it is more than possible to make profound changes in how society operates. The next steps that were presented are simple and do-able.”
The second arc of Pegadas begins on April 28th and to prepare, as well as meet people who are thinking about joining, I’m holding a series of open conversations about the work. There are Question and Answer calls and then Taster Sessions. The latter are the beginning of the Pegadas journey, but also open to the public.
Q&A calls
If you’re curious about any of what I’m saying here, and not sure if it’s for you, please come to one of our Question and Answer (Q&A) calls. We just hang out, and you get to ask me and some of the team anything you’re curious about.

6pm – 7:30pm GMT

Taster sessions
The Taster sessions begin the Pegadas journey but also welcome the general public, offering a first insight into the subject:
- 28 April, 5 May, 12 May, 19 May
10am – 11:30am PST
1pm – 2:30pm EST
6pm – 7:30pm GMT
19:00 – 20:30 CET
There is no sign up for the Taster Sessions. We ask participants to show up on time and stay for the full session, when possible. The Zoom link for all the upcoming Taster Sessions and Q&A calls is the same: https://eu01web.zoom.us/my/dialogicalsystemdesign
Financial Coresponsibility
All the work we do uses variations on Financial Coresponsibility to ensure we have the material resources to continue our activities in the field, while not restricting anyone from participating because of access to money. You can read more about how that works, and why we see it as a living example of the work, here: https://percurso.typeform.com/PercursoDSD1st
The Q&A calls and Taster Sessions use a simpler version of the same process, and we’ll take a few moments in each call to explain. Voluntary contributions can be made during or after each Session or call.
I hope to see you there!
A hug from the road,
Dominic
